There’s this one kid
Part social commentary, part social surrealism, There's this one kid explores adolescence, it reflects conversations with my children.
The aim of the work is twofold, to explore conceptually the power of narrative, placing melancholy in the tension between the text and image, a silent dialogue suspended between the student's voice and the image, and to cultivate empathy, raising awareness of the generational gap. These two aims sit side by side, well-being, empathy, and conceptual storytelling.
This visual strategy prompts a disorientating yet thought-provoking response, where incongruous objects challenge our reality and expectations, stripping away conventional perceptions and weaving our own memories into the current social fabric.
